Melbourne Airport to Add Major EV Charging Hub

Melbourne Airport partners with BP Pulse to install 24 ultra-fast EV charging bays

Melbourne Airport is expanding its electric vehicle infrastructure through a new partnership with BP Pulse, with dozens of new fast-charging stations planned for the airport precinct.

The project will deliver 24 EV charging bays equipped with ultra-fast charging technology, including both 150kW and 300kW chargers. The charging hub is designed to support a wide range of airport users, including passengers, visitors, rideshare drivers and commercial fleet operators.

According to the announcement, the new facility will also feature accessible charging bays and drive-through charging spaces for larger vehicles. Construction on the project has already started.

Melbourne Airport said the investment forms part of its broader sustainability strategy and reflects growing demand for EV infrastructure across Australia. The airport noted that the development will help improve charging accessibility for travellers and businesses operating around the airport precinct.

BP Pulse described the project as a significant step in expanding Australia’s public EV charging network, particularly at major transport hubs where vehicle traffic remains consistently high.

Once completed, the site is expected to become one of the largest EV charging hubs located at an Australian airport.
