METRIC enters parking management

The Metric Group has launched a new department focused on providing a parking management service.
Metric Peter Love final.jpgIn an unprecedented move, Metrics sales and marketing director Bill Laurie said the decision to appoint a parking services manager had been requested by the industry.

The man appointed to fulfill the role is Brian Nelson, who worked for a major parking management company for 32 years, the latter 18 months of his contract as London regional manager responsible for 118 off-street parking operations.

Said Bill: Having taken the decision to enter parking management for the first time, we are delighted to have someone as experienced as Brian on board to open doors in a sector of the market in which we havent previously been represented.

We have done our homework and we are confident we can provide solutions to problems that currently exist within this area of the parking industry.

Metric recognized a long time ago the opportunity that existed for a manufacturer of parking units to tailor-make its services to the management sector and we shall now seek to satisfy the industrys needs.

Brian, 60, has spent the last three and a half years of his career as parking manager of Capital Shopping Centres based at The Harlequin, Watford.

He said: During my 35-year career I worked with just about all of the major parking machine manufacturers representing the operations side of the business.

I am now pleased to bring this experience to Metric who are most interested in my thoughts and ideas to establish the group as a leading player in this sector of the parking market over the coming years.

Metric has the synergy of being a supplier of equipment to the parking industry with the added benefit of having a large nationwide service team of around 90 field based engineers to support the project

On Metrics behalf, I am now looking to provide a parking management service for both on-street and off-street parking for local authorities, private venture companies, shopping and leisure centers and rail.

In fact, for anyone who operates a car parking facility or has responsibility for one, but doesnt want to take that ownership themselves, preferring to concentrate on their core business.

He added: This is a very interesting time, both for Metric and myself. It is a demanding challenge for me to take into this well established market, but I believe we can compete with existing service management companies.
