Again and again, there is a large number of construction sites around stations and railway networks, including line closures, which are taxing the customers’ patience. This was also the case in Mettmann, where the outdoor parking site on the Regiobahn (regional railway) was to be equipped with modern sensor technology from MSR-Traffic in order to achieve the best possible utilization in the future.

For the modernization of the parking spaces, robust, wireless magnetic field sensors for all weather conditions were used, which evaluate and control the parking site utilization via the MSR-Traffic ParkGard® Control Center. The sensors are perfectly suited for single space detection outdoors and show a very high detection accuracy. They function without restriction in direct or permanent sunlight, in rain, snow or black ice, in the event of leaves or other contaminations covering the road surface, in fog, darkness or during a sandstorm. Even passing trains cannot influence the measurement results. As they are cast flush with the road surface, they are also protected against vandalism and resistant to snowplows.
