New Photovoltaic System Installed at Rome Fiumicino Airport

The New 5.6 MWp Photovoltaic System Is Installed on the Canopies of Our Long Stay Parking Facility.

Another milestone adds to our sustainable journey, with a new photovoltaic system at Rome Fiumicino Airport!

The new 5.6 MWp photovoltaic system is installed on the canopies of our Long Stay Parking facility, covering approximately 1,600 parking spaces and featuring nearly 14,000 high-efficiency solar panels.

By maximizing the potential of already developed surfaces, this new plant will generate enough clean electricity (more than 7 GWh per year) to meet the annual energy needs of approximately 2,600 households and avoid around 3,400 tonnes of CO₂ emissions every year.

Furthermore, beyond producing renewable energy, the new solar canopies provide shade for parked vehicles, making our Long Stay Parking the only facility of its kind in the area to offer 3,000 covered parking spaces.

This project further testifies to our vision for the energy transition: transforming existing infrastructure into clean energy assets, while creating lasting value for the environment.

This is another important step in our commitment to accelerating decarbonization and building more innovative, resilient and sustainable airport infrastructure for the future.
