New Presidential team take up office at the BPA

The BPAs Annual General Meeting took place on the 11th July 2006 in London at which the new presidential team for 2006/07 picked up the leadership mantel.
The team, lead by Peter Guest as the new president, have a jam packed year ahead of them. Mr Guest, brings over 30 years experience to the presidential role, having worked as a transport planner in the public sector and latterly as an independent parking consultant. Mr Guest is keen to use his presidential year to focus on developments which will drive forward and improve parking industry standards, through initiatives such as the code of practice for Penalty Notices on private land (which is due to be launched late 2006) and the formation of the Parking Society for individuals. He plans to continue working on the reformation of the Governance of the Association, a project that was initiated by past president, Nigel Williams. Mr Guests role involves working alongside the new BPA Executive Council, which develops BPA policy, strategy and initiatives.

Supporting Mr Guest, is Les Knight as senior vice president and Lynn Witham as vice president. Mr Knight spent his formative years designing structural steelwork for buildings and atomic energy plants. He then moved into the parking industry initially in sales and more recently as New Business Director at Euro Car Parks. Ms Witham has worked both in the public sector (with Westminster City Council and Wandsworth Council) and in the private sector (with Parking Associates Ltd). She will become the first female vice-president of the BPA, reflecting the changing profile of the industry.

The BPA would like to thank Nigel Williams for all his work during his presidential year. Mr Williams bought real energy and enthusiasm to the role and accomplished a great deal, particularly progress towards the development of the Sector Skills Strategy for parking.
