Northwest Florida Beaches International Airport: On-site Covered Parking Coming in 2013

- Panama City, Florida, US

Northwest Florida Beaches International Airport (ECP), in collaboration with The St. Joe Company, has announced it is evaluating options to build an on-site covered parking option and is committed to building one in the next year.

As part of the agreement, The St. Joe Company will end operations at the nearby Covered Airport Parking facility, allowing the airport to streamline on-site parking operations and strengthen the airport’s financial foundation.

“The decision to close the off-site parking and focus on providing a more convenient parking option for passengers will position the airport for continued growth,” said John Wheat, airport executive director. “This can serve to strengthen finances which will lead to reduced costs for air carriers, allowing us to attract new service for our residents and visitors.”

As part of the arrangement, the airport will regain control of the 11 acres of land currently leased by St. Joe near the Sheltair general aviation terminal.

“These decisions reflect our dedication to working with the airport to make the entire district as successful as possible,” said Park Brady, CEO of The St. Joe Company.

St. Joe’s Covered Airport Parking facility will close in mid December.  The St. Joe Company thanks Lynx/Scott Airport Parking, which has been managing the facility.

There are no current plans for the use of the current Covered Airport Parking structure, however, the leadership of both organizations will continue to work together to identify the best use of the property and infrastructure.
