Online service from the City of Providence, now available for parking ticket payments

Providence – Mayor David N. Cicilline today announced that the process of dealing with parking tickets has been made a little less cumbersome. With the click of the mouse, people can log onto www.providenceri.com and pay for parking tickets in a matter of minutes. The new online service is part of the city’s comprehensive parking program, which includes new state-of-the-art meters that accept coins or a smart card, called ProvPass.

Ticket payment processing is just one of many city services that will be offered online later this year to make city government more convenient and accessible. Providence residents and business with an Internet connection will be able to take care of taxes and fees easily.

Parking tickets can be paid electronically by clicking onto the Pay Your Parking Ticket icon and following a set of instructions that guide you through the payment process. The City will accept major credit card payments using Visa or MasterCard and transactions are made on a secure site.

Last month the City began replacing old meters with 500 new state-of-the-art meters which are designed to free up more on-street parking and make it much more convenient for people to park downtown. Mayor Cicilline said, with the support of the Providence Foundation, the City is also in the process of hiring a parking expert who will work with the Department of Planning Development to establish a program for funding and developing more off-street parking garages.
