Contactless Parking Touches Down in Elmbridge

Contactless Payments

Residents and visitors in a number of towns across the borough of Elmbridge in Surrey can now take advantage of contactless parking technology, following the Council’s decision to introduce new Parkeon terminals in several car parks.

Elmbridge is installing 26 new terminals with contactless bank card capability, in addition to Chip and PIN and coin transactions, and has upgraded five existing machines to accept contactless payments. The terminals are located in the town centres of Weybridge, Esher and Cobham and in commuter car parks at Hersham, Walton and Weybridge.

A spokesperson for Elmbridge Borough Council said: “We are always seeking to improve the service we offer to our residents and it is great that we can now provide them with even more convenience in our car parks. The contactless payment method is quick and easy and I have no doubt that it will be appreciated by all our car park users.”

The Parkeon Strada Rapide terminals are a mix of solar and mains powered and all have been configured to accept the new £1 coin, which is being introduced by the Royal Mint from March 2017. The machines also link to Parkeon’s Parkfolio central management system, enabling remote monitoring of the terminals and detailed analysis of parking and payment data.
