Parking garage makes a green change

A parking lot is making a green change for New Haven and for a better environment.
The Neon Garage, on Crown Street, has unveiled what it calls a juice bar. It is an electric car charging station. So, when people with electric cars leave their vehicles at the garage, they can also get them re-charged for free.

The company that runs the garage and drivers of electric cars say the juice bars are the wave of the future.

"We're trying to provide a place where they can go and park. The system you see today won't necessarily be the system that will be here tomorrow," said John Schmidt of Pro Parking. "We're trying to be in the forefront of green parking companies."

"We see it as the future of America to get off the oil standard, since the regime change in Washington got rid of the best government oil can buy," said Bob Rice of N.E. Electric Auto Association . "There seems to be some feeling of change."

It should be noted that although the electricity is free, drivers of electric cars will still have to pay for parking services at the Neon Garage.

Pro Parking said the Neon Garage's juice bar is the first of its kind anywhere in Connecticut.
