Cook Children’s Announces $42.9 Million Parking Garage Project as Part of Major Campus Expansion
Cook Children’s Health Care System has announced plans for a new $42.9 million parking facility, representing a significant step forward in the continued expansion of its Fort Worth Medical District campus.
Construction on the West Garage is expected to begin in early 2026. The project will add 504 parking spaces across 309,000 square feet, designed to improve accessibility and convenience for patients, families, and hospital staff.
According to Cook Children’s, the new parking structure will enhance the visitor experience by easing congestion and providing more direct access to hospital facilities.
Located at the intersection of 8th Avenue and Terrell Avenue, the West Garage will also include a data center and loading dock in its lower level. The facility is being developed in coordination with the upcoming West Tower, a 760,000-square-foot medical building that will significantly expand the hospital’s clinical and operational capacity.
Both developments are part of the organization’s 10-year master plan focused on expanding and modernizing the Fort Worth campus. Planned improvements include an upgraded pediatric intensive care unit, an expanded Heart Center, and additional operating rooms and diagnostic imaging services.
The parking garage project comes amid a period of rapid growth throughout the Medical District, where other major health systems — including JPS Health Network, UT Southwestern, Baylor Scott & White Health, Medical City Fort Worth, and Texas Health Resources — are also pursuing expansion and renovation initiatives.
Groundbreaking for Cook Children’s West Garage is currently scheduled for April 1, 2026.
