Parking Network Celebrates 20th Anniversary

As Parking Network sets to celebrate its 20th Anniversary this year, it’s time to reflect on what has made the company a resounding success and a chance to relish the spark of new opportunities has begun.

Service provider to the parking industry, Parking Network (www.parking.net) is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year. With exponential growth expected this year and its first International Parking Network Event set for Spring 2017, exciting times are ahead for the company itself and the industry as a whole.

The CEOJorrit Weerman

Company visionary and CEO Jorrit Weerman spearheads Parking Network which has become the go-to service provider for the parking industry, “We are a professional company with over 20 years of experience enabling our clients with solutions to enlarge their business worldwide and to make the parking industry more transparent. We are proud to have founding members who have been with us from the start, namely Q-Park, Skidata, Scheidt & Bachmann, WPS, Nagels Group and Schick Electronic, among others.”

Parking Network’s platform has also retained initial and long standing support of all the major associations like the EPA, IPI, NPA and its members.

The Beginning

Parking Network is a pioneer in the parking industry. Since its birth in 1996 and establishment in the city of Maastricht, the Netherlands, Parking Network has developed a truly global reach. What began as a website with parking industry related services and information has grown to include B2B networking services, tender services, webinars, face-to-face interviews with leaders in the industry, journalist vetted and daily updated news and information.

In 1996, the bright idea to forge a new path in the parking industry came while Q-Park founder Mr. Ward Vleugels and his friend Marc Vrijhof were sitting in his back garden. At this time, the internet was becoming more common and the parking industry was still conventional. A website solely dedicated to the parking industry became the root of the company. This industry was growing rapidly and the overload of information in the parking industry was not centralized in one place.

1st Online Community for Parking Professionals

Jorrit Weerman joined the company in 1999 and took leadership of it in 2002. This leadership role allowed him the opportunity to set-up a new software platform with a lot more features to service parking professionals worldwide.
Jorrit Weerman states: “As we were the first online community for parking professionals and even after 20 years, with over 21,000 unique parking professionals per month using our on- and offline platform, we are still proud to be the market leader worldwide in bringing the parking demand and supply side together via Parking Network.”

Connecting Parking Professionals Worldwide

Parking Network’s online platform www.parking.net showcases the latest developments in the parking industry while connecting parking professionals worldwide.

The heart of the business is its partnerships with members. The young, dedicated team at Parking Network seek to optimize business profiles through marketing, frequent Parking Network News videos, webinars, conferences/trade shows, and writing original, publishable content to showcase industry leaders, to name a few of their services. Its members are leading industry suppliers and operators from around the world; from Auckland, NZ to San Francisco, US. Jorrit Weerman explains that personal contact is key for providing services for business members, “The Parking Network team keeps in regular contact with their nearly 100 business members throughout the year. We also have a presence at all the trade shows worldwide where we represent them and help them meet potential customers.”

Future Developments

Parking Network is set to roll out a variety of new functions this year. The company website is going to be improved with many new features. Additionally, Parking Network will launch the first edition of their Shopping Center Parking Network Event and Venue Parking Network Event.
Parking Network’s vision is firmly set on some exciting events that extend into next year. 2017 will usher in the start of the Hospital Parking Network Event, Smart City Network Event and the International Parking Network Event.

1st International Parking Network Event

Following eight years of experience organizing events for specific user groups, Parking Network will host its first International Parking Network Event which will be held at the Brussels Expo from May 9th to 11th, 2017.

International Parking Network Event

Jorrit Weerman explains his plan to revolutionize the structure of parking industry trade shows: “This will be a totally new concept of a trade show where it is all about networking in the best environmental atmosphere. I believe that the time has come to change the traditional trade shows. Companies spend a lot of money on shipping their goods, and on building up and tearing down their booths at trade shows. It is apparent that the old way of networking has become obsolete, favoring a more interactive approach where business clients can socialize while easily achieving their business related objectives.” This new approach sees a product-less event with a central bar-like hub where parking professionals can congregate to discuss business in an informal and more interactive way. With these new ideas in mind Parking Network is setting-up this innovative event. Everyone is more than welcome to join!
