We’re absolutely thrilled about being able to offer city shoppers this level of convenience especially coming up to the busy Christmas period”. said John Gilligan Chairman of Limerick Market Trustees “Motorists can now do their shopping and business at their leisure without worrying about overstaying or queuing to pay during busy periods. These things help to make the city centre a more attractive place to shop”

“The Trustee Car Parks were quick to see the advantages of ParkMagic for their customers coming up to the Christmas season and indeed all year round,” said Paul Fitzgerald, Director, ParkMagic. “These days it is simply essential to offer customers this type of simplicity and convenience and we are thrilled that the Limerick Market Trustees are in fact the first car park operator in the world to deliver it.”

More than 400 motorists in Limerick have been using ParkMagic since the pilot phase and 99% of all participants said they would continue to use ParkMagic after the pilot citing it being an easy to use, time-saving and efficient parking system that they would like to be able to use across the country. Research findings indicate that the distribution of workers and shoppers were almost equal with 41% parking for work purposes and 39% for shopping so the Christmas shopping rush will be an excellent time for motorists to avail of the ParkMagic service.

ParkMagic is the world’s first in-car parking permit display system controlled using a mobile phone. The system was created by Philip Hayes and Paul Fitzgerald and following the success of the test-pilot, is now available to roll out nationwide and globally to city/county councils. Drivers will now be able to select any of the Trustee operated Car Parks located in the city centre, and use ParkMagic to pay for parking by simply dialling the car park number. The in car ParkMagic display unit will be updated with the parking time paid for and should a driver wish to extend their stay they can simply call the service again from any location and do not need to return to the car.
