Online Booking Platform, Parkos, Counters Rogue Valet Parking Providers

Parkos uses mystery shoppers equipped with GPS trackers to monitor valet parking services.

Online Booking Platform, Parkos, introduces GPS verified providers. The company wants to use this to prevent malpractice by valet parking providers.

In the summer of 2019, a considerable number of valet providers around airports caused a lot of backlash in the market. Cars were parked in public parking lots and cars were driven unnecessarily by parking employees. This has put the market in a negative light and raised many concerns among travelers who drop off their car for valet parking.

To provide transparency within the market, the booking platform, Parkos, is beginning to work with GPS verified parking facilities. Customers who have made a reservation through Parkos may be asked to act as a mystery guest. Parkos then sends GPS trackers to these consumers and provides information about how to use the tracker.

This creates a clear image of the market and the rogue car parks are filtered out of Parkos’ listings. Travelers can then see when a specific parking provider was last checked and be better informed before choosing a provider to book with. Parking providers are also now aware that they are being checked by mystery guests and are eager to obtain this quality mark from us.

Managing Director, Arne Bos, of Parkos says: “We see a large number of fantastic valet providers around major airports that suffer from a few bad apples. With this new functionality, we ensure a quality label so the consumer knows exactly what to expect from their valet parking.”
