In Germany, Overnight Parking at the Supermarket Is Now Possible with Peter Park

- Germany
Retailers can now maintain full control of parking facilities without prohibiting drivers parking overnight.

The parking pressure in city centers is constantly increasing. On average, motorists in major German cities spend eight to ten minutes looking for a parking space per trip. The search is particularly nerve-racking at night. With the help of the Peter Park solution and an app, supermarket parking spaces are now made available at night.

Can I park my car at the supermarket after opening hours? Is it legally allowed to park there on Sundays? These are the questions residents and visitors regularly ask themselves. Supermarket owners commonly prohibit these options because they simply want to prevent long-term parkers from blocking their valuable customer parking space. Valuable space thus remains unused half the time.

Parking at the Supermarket Overnight

With Peter Park's digital parking management system, this paradigm is resolved: retailers can maintain full control of their parking space without prohibiting car drivers from staying on the lot outside opening hours. The underlying technology is simple: the license plates of all entering and leaving cars are captured by a scanner at the parking space's entry and exit, in full accordance with data protection regulations. Based on that mechanism, the parking space is 24/7 controlled and can be centrally managed via a connected software suite.

Additional Income Without Effort: App Parking at the Supermarket

As motorists regularly cannot find any nearby parking options overnight, they are willing to pay for it. Via a simple-to-use app from our partner Parkster, drivers can purchase a parking permit for the night or on Sundays. The license plate recognition system recognizes the related parking process and the payment is validated by an interconnected software system. This allows retailers to ease the burden of finding a parking space and to generate additional revenue at the same time - without the necessity of installing expensive payment infrastructure on-site.

Modern License Plate Scanners Replace Barriers and Parking Discs

During the day, the maximum parking time can be easily and fairly controlled, while at night parking permits can be conveniently booked and paid via app. Environmentally harmful paper tickets or plastic parking permits are not used anymore.
