Record sales once again for BCD Holdings in 2011

Despite facing continued macro-economic challenges, the international travel company BCD Holdings N.V. has closed the financial year 2011 with record sales. The company achieved sales of US$ 20.8 billion, a growth of 18 percent in comparison to 2010. EBITDA rose to US$ 138 million.

BCD Travel

Subsidiary BCD Travel succeeded - for the third consecutive year - in expanding its network of clients with US$ 1.3 billion in new sales. The business travel company maintained its high retention rate of more than 96 percent. According to Joop Drechsel, CEO of BCD Holdings: We expect demand for business travel to continue to increase in the coming years, largely due to strong economic growth in the emerging markets.

This growth builds on the solid growth of last year, with prices and volumes almost reaching pre-2008 recession levels. We continue to monitor global economic trends carefully, especially economic developments in Europe, says Drechsel.

Travix

BCD Travel is not the only company to flourish within BCD Holdings. Travix, the Netherlands largest online travel company, saw bookings increase by more than 50 percent in 2011. Following the successful integration of Easytobook.com, the simple and economic booking of hotels via the websites of online travel providers CheapTickets, Vliegwinkel, BudgetAir and Vayama is now a reality. As Drechsel says, This young and ambitious company is developing at high speed. Travix recently launched new websites in Singapore, Hong Kong, Austria, Luxembourg and Spain and also expects to do so in the near future in Ireland, Brazil and India, among other places.

Airtrade and Park 'N Fly

Operating companies Airtrade and Park N Fly also closed the financial year 2011 ahead of expectations. Airtrade, which since the beginning of 2011 has concentrated on the business (B2B) market, successfully developed a new online version of its booking tool for travel agents, TravelPackager. In addition, Park N Fly reported the highest sales in the companys 43 year history and recently opened new locations in the US, in Charlotte, North Carolina and Miami, Florida.

Solid results

Despite the worldwide recession, BCD and its subsidiaries have realised solid results for the financial year 2011. Each of BCDs operating companies won market share in their respective market segments, emphasising once again their added value to clients.
