“Reserved Combat Wounded” Public Parking Signs

The City of Temecula has launched its “Reserved Combat Wounded” parking sign campaign and invites local business owners to acknowledge and honor Purple Heart recipient service men and women by allocating a distinct designated parking space at their place of business.

Retired U.S. Marine Cpl. Juan Dominguez, a Temecula resident, proposed the special parking spaces to the Temecula City Council who wholeheartedly supported his recommendation.  Cpl. Dominguez himself is a Purple Heart recipient, having lost both legs and his right arm by an improvised explosive device (IED) while serving in Afghanistan.

To be eligible for the sign, the city’s minimum parking requirements must be met.  It is not the intent to replace existing ADA parking stalls, but rather designate a place of honor for these service men and women.

“Reserved Combat Wounded” parking signs will be provided to business owners by the City of Temecula at cost ($108 per sign).  Each business owner will be responsible for providing a sign post (if needed), brackets and installation.

The application form, along with a picture of the sign, can be downloaded from the city website at www.cityoftemecula.org and Combat Wounded typed in the Search box.  Upon notification of approval, the sign can be purchased at Temecula City Hall, 41000 Main Street.
