Parking ticket terminals are located mainly in public areas such as parking lots and parking spaces. Here experience shows that they represent a potential target for criminals who are after the money stored in them. Therefore, the security of the terminals is becoming increasingly important.

Parking ticket terminals consist of at least an entry and acquisition unit for currency, a parking ticket printer, operating elements and a control unit. Over and above these, RTB’s “Pecuni” also offers possibilities for cashless transactions. To protect the currency from unauthorized access in the best possible fashion, VdS-certified parking ticket terminals are categorized in four terminal classes according to their resistance to burglary. The level of the criteria regarding the time necessary to overcome the security and the effectiveness of the tools used increases with each class.

The test is conducted under rigorous conditions and takes place based on a plan. The goal of the main test is to determine, if the cash box or, in the event of its presence, the case strong box or their potential contents can be removed within the resistance time listed in the table using the tools listed in the table.

The parking ticket terminal “Pecuni” passed this extensive text for several hours and thus earned the highest security class P4.
