Sanef Saba Parkings is awarded the concession for the Maubert-Notre Dame car park, in Paris
The 426-space car park is located in the centre of Paris, very close to Notre Dame cathedral.
sanef saba parkings, a company owned by saba and sanef (companies which form part of the abertis Group), has been awarded its first project in France, through the concession for the Maubert-Notre Dame car park, in Paris.
The car park, which currently has 426 spaces, is located in the centre of Paris, very close to Notre Dame cathedral. sanef saba parkings will be responsible for the concession for the car park - which until now has been managed by the municipal company SAEMES - from 8 May and for a period of 12 years.
Investments will be made in the car park in the coming years in order to renovate its general facilities, with improvements to control systems, fire prevention, painted areas and watertightness, as well as the construction of a new lift for disabled access. All of this is aimed at offering a quality service to its customers, based on sanef saba parkings' policy of prioritising innovation, the application of new technologies and the idea of the car park as a fundamental element of mobility. With this in mind, it is also anticipated that the Liber-t payment system will be installed in the car park. These improvements are expected to be completed in 2011.
The General Manager of saba, Josep Canós, sees the award of this project as a very positive step "as it represents the abertis Group's first car park operation in France", and stressed the importance of the partnership formed by saba and sanef "as a great team which will allow us to continue our growth in the car park sector in France".
For his part, the General Manager of sanef, François Gauthey, highlighted the fact that this new contract "makes clear our ambition of extending our portfolio of concessions towards new activities, such as car park management". François Gauthey also pointed out that "sanef and saba wish to set the standard for service quality in the car park field. It is my firm belief that customer service quality is the essential key to our presence and growth in the infrastructure sector".
saba now has a total of 117,383 parking spaces spread around 196 parking centres in Spain, Italy, Chile, Portugal, Morocco and Andorra. In addition, the company is developing new projects which will increase the total size of the network to 215 parking centres and almost 140,000 managed spaces.
sanef holds the abertis Group's concessions for motorways in France. It currently directly manages 1,743 kilometres of motorways in the north of France and has a stake in other concessionaires which manage a further 280
kilometres, either in service or under construction. Its subsidiaries include the Société des Autoroutes Paris Normandie (sapn) and Eurotoll.
