First multi-storey car park in France with non-contact payment

(PayWave / PayPass)

Non-contact payment

It is very easy to park in the "Parking Clemenceau" multi-storey car park in Pau, France, which is much appreciated by the customers: drivers can pay for their parking fee at the exit very conveniently with their credit cards - by just holding the credit card in front of the card reader.

Scheidt & Bachmann developed this payment solution together with the Ingenico Company. The system conforms to the most recent standards issued by the payment industry and has been prepared for further innovations, such as payment using an NFC-capable smartphone. The days in which customers had to fumble around for small change to pay at a parking ticket machine are long gone. Potential delays at the exit due to incorrect PIN inputs are likewise eliminated because it is not necessary to key in a PIN at the exit. The VISA PayWave or MasterCard PayPass is simply held in front of the reader and the payment is processed.

It is not only easy for the motorists; the operators are also pleased because there is little or no wear & tear to the components in the devices.

"Scheidt & Bachmann is the first company to provide such a solution on the French market", says a delighted Patrick Moretton, General Manager of Scheidt & Bachmann France. "There are still normal payment machines, of course, so that we can offer customers a variety of options to pay for their parking tickets. Although VISA PayWave and MasterCard PayPass can also be used there as well as cash. In accordance with the specifications issued by the payment industry, a PIN pad to input a PIN has been fitted for payment of larger amounts."

Pau chose Scheidt & Bachmann to modernise the parking management systems in the town's multi-storey car parks. This latest generation system offers customers the highest level of convenience.

The state-of-the-art system provides security of investment over the long term. To mention just a few examples: all multi-storey car parks are linked to a master computer; a license plate recognition system installed In the entrance lanes allows in-coming traffic to flow quickly and efficiently; barrier-free ticket machines offer ergonomic facilities for the handicapped to pay their parking fees, entervo Analytics provide varied evaluations and business analyses, and much more.
