Pioneering parking in Dubai
Dubai Marina Mall, a complex consisting of shopping mall with parking garage, gourmet tower and hotel and residential tower, is the centrepiece of the Dubai Marina and one of the biggest and most attractive shopping malls worldwide.
There are 160 shops on over 40,000 m tempting customers to shop and stroll. Two thousand parking spaces on several floors are available to guests.
Due to the exclusivity of the Dubai Marina Mall, Scheidt & Bachmann were selected for the parking management system. The system was installed and put into operation together with Telematics LLC, the partner of Scheidt & Bachmann in Dubai.
The parking management system is based on barcode technology and processes transponder and proximity cards too. At the automatic pay stations one can pay with coins, notes and credit cards. Both coins and notes are issued as change.
The visitor-friendly internal parking guidance system is a special highlight. There are many confusing twists and turns in the parking garage parking areas. To facilitate orientation each level and area counts and displays the occupied and free parking spaces. By means of so-called cross-arrow displays and a single space detection system, traffic looking for parking is quickly guided to free spaces. There is a sensor above each parking space, which visualises the occupancy condition.
In this way statistics can be kept in the management system on the occupancy and utilisation of every single parking space.
Scheidt & Bachmann has already installed this parking guidance system with single space detection worldwide in numerous projects.
