Scheidt & Bachmann: Parking as Part of the Mobility Chain – Living Practice in Luxembourg

- Diekirch, Luxembourg
The Example of Diekirch Impressively Shows That Modern Parking Systems Are a Central Building Block for Sustainable, Networked Mobility.

In Luxembourg, mobility is thought of holistically – and parking is an important part of this. With the ceremonial opening of the "Hippodrom" multi-storey car park at the Diekirch train station, switching from cars to public transport is now even easier.

Scheidt & Bachmann Parking Solutions is proud to contribute to the municipality of Diekirch being able to offer its residents and guests a forward-looking mobility concept with the installation of the new parking management system.

The car park supports the city's goal of reducing car traffic in the centre and promoting the use of public transport. As a modern mobility hub, it ensures seamless transitions between different modes of transport.

With 649 parking spaces, including 60 with e-charging stations, the multi-storey car park focuses on sustainability. On the roof, solar panels generate clean energy.

But the real progress is in the software: for the first time in Luxembourg, both the INDIGO Group Neo app and the CFL - Société Nationale des Chemins de Fer LuxembourgeoisPark&Ride app are integrated here. Drivers can enter conveniently using license plate recognition. Particularly attractive: If you park your vehicle in the "Hippodrome" with the CFL app and then continue by bus or train, you can park for free. An intelligent occupancy display also provides real-time information about free parking spaces.

The example of Diekirch impressively shows that modern parking systems are a central building block for sustainable, networked mobility.
