SKIDATA Implements Pioneering Parking Management Solution
For the New Terminal 3 at Frankfurt Airport
SKIDATA, a leading international provider of access and parking management solutions, has equipped the new Terminal 3 parking garage at Frankfurt Airport with a state-of-the-art parking management system. In doing so, the company is setting new standards for efficiency, scalability, and user-friendliness at one of Europe's most important aviation hubs.
With the commissioning of Terminal 3 on April 23, Frankfurt Airport significantly expanded its capacities: the terminal is initially designed for up to 19 million passengers annually and can handle up to 25 million travelers in its final expansion stage. The associated parking garage, with a total of 8,500 parking spaces across eight levels, is among the largest parking facilities in Europe.
Intelligent control and digital services
Frankfurt Airport consistently focuses on digitalization to ensure a seamless and comfortable parking experience. Various access technologies from SKIDATA provide maximum flexibility: depending on the area, entry and exit are handled via traditional tickets, QR codes for online bookings, or fully barrier-free via automatic license plate recognition. Complementing this, flexible payment options are available: on-site at automated payment machines, at the exit gate, or via smartphone.
The innovative SKIDATA technology ensures seamless connectivity and networking with existing Fraport systems, enabling efficient and secure processing of all operationally relevant data.
Scalability as a strategic success factor
A key advantage of the SKIDATA solution lies in its high scalability. The system is designed to grow with the terminal's requirements without needing adjustments to the IT infrastructure. Additional services, such as e-charging infrastructure, special parking areas, or fleet solutions, can be flexibly integrated into the central software platform.
"In the Terminal 3 parking garage at Frankfurt Airport, we offer our customers a variety of parking products and services. With a user-friendly and powerful parking system, we contribute to a positive travel experience for our passengers," says Gerald Krebs, Fraport AG, Head of Parking and Mobility.
"For Terminal 3 in Frankfurt, we have implemented a solution that combines technological performance with maximum user-friendliness," says Ralf Klomp, Managing Director of SKIDATA Deutschland GmbH. "The intelligent linking of license plate recognition and digital services creates a future-proof platform that efficiently manages even the complex requirements of an international aviation hub".
