Skyline Parking AG: Planning Order for the next Public Parking Project

A long awaited Swiss project has advanced to the next step. Skyline Parking received an order to perform the planning work during the building permit phase for a public parking project. With that order, the customer has made a significant commitment in favor of our automated parking solution.

Skyline had already been working closely with the client’s architect. It started by agreeing on the exact height above sea level for the entry level and for the structure’s overall height. Then, the building’s outline needed to be conformed to utilize all the available space. All entries and exits, including driving lanes, have been agreed upon as well as the necessary mechanical rooms, maintenance access and interface for water and electricity infrastructure. Finally, the exact position for emergency doors, ticketing and cashier station, client waiting room, pedestrian walkways and the architect’s selection of roof and façade were integrated in the plans.

Having fixed all the interfaces, we had to adjust the basic layout of the Skyline parking system’s infrastructure. Since the number of the entry and exit lobbies was changed and the overall height reduced, we also had to modify portions of the Skyline Parking car transport infrastructure. We will introduce adapted parking platforms that will save floor height significantly. With that change, we will be back to the floor clearances as originally planned and will have an additional space saving option for future installations. As in all our installations, there will be an optimal mix of parking spaces with different heights, lengths and width. This space-saving technique is just one of the advantages of the conveyor belt system compared to the pallet system.

Work with the architect went smoothly and has been very encouraging; nonetheless, it required several iterations to complete the final plan. According to the architect, “To me, the Skyline Parking System is already built – I can clearly visualize it!”
