SP Group Expands Singapore EV Charging Footprint with Full ChargEco Acquisition
SP Group has completed its acquisition of Strides YTL Pte. Ltd., the charge point operator operating under the ChargEco brand, further expanding its electric vehicle charging presence across Singapore.
The transaction, completed after clearance from the Competition and Consumer Commission of Singapore, brings more than 1,000 public EV charging points into SP Mobility’s network. SP Mobility, part of SP Group, now operates what the company describes as Singapore’s largest EV charging network, as well as the country’s largest fast-charging network.
ChargEco’s assets will be integrated into SP Mobility over the coming months. During the transition, ChargEco chargers will continue to operate as usual, and existing users can keep using the ChargEco app without changes to their current charging process. SP Mobility will also take over customer service responsibilities to support continuity for drivers.
The acquisition significantly increases SP Mobility’s coverage in residential areas. Around 96 percent of ChargEco’s charging sites are located in Housing & Development Board carparks across Singapore’s East and Central regions, while the remainder are installed at commercial and private residential locations, including SAFRA premises and Wisma Atria.
SP Group said the combined network will improve operational efficiency and service consistency as EV adoption continues to accelerate in Singapore. According to the company, electric vehicles accounted for 55 percent of new passenger car registrations as of February 2026, while Singapore’s EV population increased from approximately 31,980 vehicles in 2024 to around 71,990 in May 2026.
The acquisition also complements SP Mobility’s broader investments in public charging infrastructure, including ultra-fast charging and digital services such as cross-border roaming. For EV drivers, the phased integration is expected to provide a more unified charging experience across a larger network of locations.
Mr Dean Cher, Managing Director of SP Mobility, said “This acquisition marks an important step towards a more consolidated and efficient EV charging landscape in Singapore. We see significant opportunities to bring together complementary networks and capabilities, and are well positioned to lead this effort as we work towards building Singapore’s largest and most reliable EV charging network. As the EV population continues to grow, this will enable us to strengthen charging availability, enhance service consistency, and better support Singapore’s electrification goals.”
ChargEco was previously known as Strides YTL, a joint venture connected to Strides Mobility and YTL PowerSeraya. SP Group became the sole owner on June 30, 2026, and renamed the company ChargEco.
