PoliScan Smart uses a laser-triggered camera with the ability to cover two lanes of traffic. The system offers a flexible, compact design that requires no in-road equipment, such as induction loops, and can be easily mounted in a vehicle, on a tripod or on a pole. Invisible infrared illumination allows operation by day or night, enabling clear visibility of plates even when the system is located inside a vehicle.

Vitronic offers a couple of unique options including an additional flash with extra performance for difficult light environments, and an additional colour camera to provide contrast images when required.

The new product, which can read plates at speeds up to 100 mph, is an economical alternative for a variety of license plate recognition applications including law enforcement, access control, security, parking and even AMBER alerts.
