Dynamic HGV Parking on motorway A5 officially brought into operation

HGV-Parking systems on motorway A5 launched

At five parking areas along motorway A5 in driving direction Switzerland, a total of 115 dynamic signs now provide information about available HGV parking spaces.

With these measures the search for HGV spaces can considerably be reduced and at the same time traffic safety be increased. The unnecessary moving on and off rest areas which are already occupied is avoided, the driving and rest times for the drivers can be observed more reliably. Additionally, the online platform allows HGV drivers to get the information about free parking places in advance, in real time and at no cost.

Swarco Traffic Systems BU Interurban was involved in this project in more than one respect, i.e. with the field installation as well as with the central software. Equipped were the rest areas Bad Bellingen (37 +40 parking spaces), Fischergrund, Streitkopf and Blauenblick-West (6 parking spaces each) as well as Neuenburg-West (20 parking spaces).

Exemplary for all five, the rest area Bad Bellingenwas officially brought into operation by state secretary Gisela Splett, who supports the plan of equipping further rest areas with HGV parking systems.
