SWARCO Parking & eMobility UK Gains Approval as a Go Ultra Low Company

SWARCO Go Ultra Low

SWARCO Parking & eMobility UK, developers of solutions for the safe management and access of vehicles and people in SMART cities and environments, has been awarded official Go Ultra Low Company status. As a Go Ultra Low Company SWARCO is recognised for its commitment to sustainability reflected in its current and future plans for the use of Electric Vehicles (EVs) in its fleet.

Launched in 2016 by Go Ultra Low, the government and auto industry campaign, which exists to increase awareness of electric cars. The initiative recognises those companies that are already embracing EVs as well as those that have plans to increase their commitment.

eVolt UK, the EV charge point supplier that was set up in 2010 as SWARCO’s eMobility brand has to date supplied 5,023 commercial EV charging stations and is the preferred supplier to 83 local authorities in the UK. While some of its employees already drive EVs, eVolt is converting all engineers and sales employees based in Scotland to BMW i3s. Further to this, SWARCO is committed to boosting its EV uptake over the next five years as part of a longer-term strategy, which will also include its parking technology business APT Skidata and the ticketless parking payment specialists Veri-park.

It makes sense from a commercial and environmental perspective for us to convert our field based teams to EVs as they are already clocking up the miles,” says Sean Dunstan, Group Managing Director at SWARCO Parking & eMobility UK, “The eVolt division is the perfect place to start. Our engineers are responsible for installing and servicing EV chargers up and down the country and are in the ideal position to make the transition. They will also be able to use their new EVs to fully test our charging units while servicing to ensure they deliver the full available power.

“We know from experience that the charging infrastructure to keep a busy team of engineers and sales people on the road is expanding all the time,” Sean adds. “So we are pleased to be making this change, which will in time cascade through the company.”

Poppy Welch, Head of Go Ultra Low, said: “We welcome SWARCO Parking & eMobility UK to the Go Ultra Low Companies scheme. By embracing electric vehicle technologies in its pioneering plans for SMART cities and environments, the business’s ambitions and values match those of Go Ultra Low. We look forward to seeing SWARCO continue its role as an ambassador for electric vehicles, encouraging the uptake of plug-in technology as part of the Go Ultra Low Companies initiative.”
