Parking solution for environmentally-certified Fornebu Center

A brand new green shopping center of the future and a hub for residents at Fornebu, Norway, a new city of approx. 25,000 inhabitants and more than 30,000 jobs – SWARCO delivers an environmentally-friendly parking solution for the 40,000 sqm, 950 parking spaces, two-level car park.

The building is the first of its kind to be environmentally certified according to BREEAM NOR's highest level, Outstanding, and is described as the most environmentally friendly shopping mall.

Fornebu Center has placed great emphasis on environmental measures such as Northern Europe's largest solar park, public transport with information in real time, frequent public transits, charging stations for electric vehicles, inside and outside parking guidance and 120 spaces for sheltered bicycle parking at the main entrance.

SWARCO complies with the environmental requirements that are set by the developer, delivering green parking solutions to the project. "All the 830 commercial parking lots will have single space recognition to reduce search traffic inside the P-house. LED signs outside and inside the facility will guide the customers to the nearest available parking space”, says operations manager Torgrim Bentzen from SWARCO Norway .

The parking solution at Fornebu Center will be the market's most modern parking system, where all entrances/exits have payment machines with integrated EMV solutions for secure payment. The facility will also be equipped with hands free solutions with a Key Tag system for regular customers, both for the shopping area and other regular users of the P-house, like industry and home owners .

SWARCO delivers CO₂ accounts to our client throughout the project, which will be completed in July 2014.
