Ticketless Parking Rollout Expands at Helsinki Airport This Spring
Helsinki Airport is continuing the rollout of its ticketless parking system, with several parking areas being upgraded during the spring. The system is already being introduced across multiple parking facilities, with further expansion planned.
The solution uses automatic number plate recognition (ANPR), allowing vehicles to enter and exit without the need for a physical ticket. Cameras identify license plates at entry and exit points, and parking fees are calculated automatically. Payment can then be completed digitally after the visit, removing the need for traditional payment machines.
The rollout is being carried out in phases to ensure a smooth transition for users. By gradually expanding the system, the airport aims to provide a more seamless and efficient parking experience across its facilities.
Looking ahead, the airport plans to extend ticketless parking to additional areas. In the future, the system will also be implemented in the P3 and P5 parking halls, as well as in the P4 parking area, further increasing coverage.
According to the operator, the ticketless approach is designed to improve traffic flow and reduce congestion, particularly during peak travel periods. Eliminating barriers and ticket handling helps minimize waiting times at entry and exit points.
The digital system also enhances operational efficiency by reducing maintenance needs and simplifying parking management for both short- and long-term users.
Helsinki Airport intends to continue expanding the system, with the long-term goal of offering a fully ticketless parking experience across all parking facilities.
