Consistently recognized as one of the top-performing large airports in North America, Minneapolis–Saint Paul International Airport (MSP) sets a high standard for efficiency, reliability, and passenger experience. In fact, MSP has recently been ranked the #1 mega airport in North America by the Metropolitan Airports Commission, an honor it has repeated due to its unwavering focus on efficiency and traveler experience.

MSP also placed strongly in the 2025 J.D. Power North America Airport Satisfaction Study, reflecting high marks from travelers on ease of access, check-in, terminal comfort, and overall airport experience.

Managed by the Metropolitan Airports Commission (MAC), MSP served more than 37 million travelers in 2024 and supports more than 400,000 aircraft operations annually, ranking among the busiest airports in the United States. The airport has also earned national and international recognition for operational excellence, including being named a top North American airport for efficiency within its size category.

As part of its $600M Operational Improvements Program, MSP has selected TKH Security and the Park Assist Solution to enhance parking guidance and enforcement capabilities at Terminal 1. This investment reflects the Airport’s commitment to leveraging proven, data-driven technology to improve traffic flow, increase visibility, and deliver a smoother arrival experience for passengers navigating one of the region’s busiest terminals.

That process ultimately led them to select our system. Like many initiatives of that era, the timeline was impacted by larger events.”

The Park Assist Solution, an automated parking guidance system (APGS), is being deployed across multiple parking facilities at Terminal 1, helping MSP manage high demand while reducing congestion and improving operational oversight. The project spans multiple garages and more than 6,400 parking spaces.

“MSP’s continued ranking as the No. 1 mega airport in North America underscores its dedication to exceptional customer service,” said Sparrow. “Projects like the expansion and improvement of Concourse G integrate smart parking guidance technology that further supports that vision, giving travelers seamless access from the moment they arrive.”

Each installation will leverage the parking management system’s camera-based M5 smart sensors, delivering real-time space occupancy data with accuracy exceeding 99%. Mounted above the drive lane, each sensor monitors multiple parking spaces simultaneously and uses intuitive LED indicators to guide drivers directly to available spaces, helping travelers park up to 63% faster while easing traffic congestion throughout the facility.

To further support efficient operations, MSP is implementing Park Alerts, a feature powered by license plate recognition (LPR), that enables automated monitoring and notifications. This allows airport operators to quickly identify vehicles that have overstayed, parked in restricted areas, or require attention, and helps to maintain order and improve compliance in high-traffic parking environments.
