TKH Security: Miami International Airport Continues to Innovate
Third Garage Installing the Park Assist Solution
As one of the busiest and most economically impactful airports in the United States, Miami International Airport (MIA) continues to set the pace for innovation, modernization, and passenger satisfaction. Power, reinforcing its commitment to elevating the passenger experience at every touchpoint. At the same time, Miami-Dade County continues investing heavily in modernization efforts, including $94 million in FAA grants supporting major infrastructure as part of a broader strategy to enhance efficiency, capacity, and long-term growth.
Continuing this investment in world-class infrastructure and passenger-focused innovation, MIA has selected TKH Security to install the Park Assist Solution, an automated parking guidance system (APGS), in a third parking garage, enhancing parking operations for its newest garage. Park Assist technology was installed in the airport’s Dolphin and Flamingo garages several years ago, daily helping travelers quickly locate available spaces, reserve parking in advance, and access real-time availability updates through digital signage displayed throughout the facilities. This latest innovation builds on that successful foundation, further expanding smart parking capabilities across the airport’s parking infrastructure.
Smarter Parking for a High-Volume Global Hub
The Park Assist Solution will be deployed within Miami International Airport’s new seven-floor parking garage, encompassing a total of 2,311 spaces (including 1,929 covered and 382 open-air spaces.) Designed to support high daily traffic volumes, the installation will provide comprehensive visibility across the entire facility, ensuring drivers are guided quickly and efficiently to available parking upon entry. The system will help reduce congestion within the structure and improve overall circulation during peak travel periods by combining intelligent occupancy detection with real-time data accuracy.
At the core of the installation is the M5 Smart Sensor, the Park Assist Solution’s HD camera-based technology delivering greater than 99% accuracy in space occupancy detection. Each M5 unit monitors up to six parking spaces, space by space, simultaneously, while using intuitive LED indicators to guide drivers directly to available spaces, reducing search time, minimizing congestion, and supporting smoother traffic flow throughout the garage.

An Integrated Technology Ecosystem
In addition to the M5 smart sensors, MIA is deploying a comprehensive suite of advanced technologies designed to optimize operations, enhance safety, and improve the overall customer experience, including:
- Park Surveillance captures high-definition video triggered by motion in and around individual parking spaces, providing continuous documentation and an added layer of security to protect vehicles and facility users.
- Park Finder leverages integrated license plate recognition (LPR) technology to help travelers quickly and easily locate their vehicle. Through intuitive tools such as touchscreen kiosks, mobile integrations, and connected payment stations guests can retrieve their parking location in seconds.
- Park Alerts utilizes LPR data to automate parking enforcement and operational oversight. The system generates real-time notifications for overstays, unauthorized parking, restricted-area access, or vehicles flagged under VIP or watchlist criteria, strengthening compliance and improving response times.
- S2 Outdoor Solution extends HD camera-based monitoring to surface lots and rooftop parking areas, enhancing situational awareness and reinforcing safety across open-air environments.
- C5 Smart Counting Solution is an HD, camera-based vehicle counter installed at entry and exit points to deliver precise, bidirectional counts in real-time. By providing instant visibility into facility occupancy, along with remote access to traffic volume reports, accuracy metrics, and usage data, the C5 ensures operators can manage capacity confidently and efficiently from anywhere.
- INX-Core Software Suite provides a powerful, centralized platform delivering real-time system visibility alongside detailed historical analytics. With comprehensive reporting on occupancy trends, traffic patterns, and performance metrics, operators gain the actionable insights needed to optimize efficiency and long-term planning.
- OPS COMMAND+ API connects the automated parking guidance system with building management systems, digital signage, and web-based platforms, allowing operators to manage alerts, system updates, and operational workflows through a unified interface.
- CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE+ API creates opportunities to enhance the parking journey by enabling additional, value-added functionalities that improve convenience, personalization, and overall guest satisfaction.
