TransCore to Provide RFID Technology for the Atlanta HOT Lane Conversion
TransCore, the worlds largest provider of transportation-based radio frequency identification (RFID) products, was notified by Georgias State Road and Tollway Authority (SRTA) of their intent to award TransCore a contract to provide RFID technology for the conversion of SRTAs high occupancy vehicle (HOV) lanes to high occupancy toll (HOT) lanes along a 15-mile stretch of I-85 in Atlanta.
The contract includes RFID tags, antennas, readers, and support services. The HOT lanes are scheduled to open January 2011.

TransCore has more than 39 million tags and 60 thousand readers deployed in transportation applications around the world, from toll collection to logistics services, with virtually 100 percent of all rail cars in North America deploying two TransCore tags, along with homeland security applications, electronic vehicle registration, access control, and border crossing applications both in the United States and abroad.
