TRILUX: 188 Parking Garages in 7 Countries - Large International Project With Q-Park

Performance convinces and therefore the cooperation is being expanded: TRILUX has been working with the international parking specialist Q-Park on a project basis for some time now. Because everything went so well, we entered into a strategic partnership at the end of November 2023.

Since then, we have been converting 188 parking garages in seven countries to energy-efficient and smart lighting as a full-service provider. In order to guarantee an effective renovation process and an optimal end result, we have developed a lighting concept that can be flexibly adapted to the different locations with their different architectures and existing technologies. The waterproof luminaires are central to the Aragon Fit and Oleveon Fit concept in combination with the LiveLink light management system.

Renovation concept for more efficiency and atmosphere

Q-Park operates more than 3,600 parking lots throughout Europe. Because the lighting technology at some locations was no longer state-of-the-art, Q-Park was looking for a full-service partner to modernise this infrastructure. The aim was to improve the quality of light and the quality of stay in the parking garage and to reduce energy costs with intelligent LED lighting. The renovation programme includes parking garages with outdated conventional lighting, buildings with first-generation LED technology and plans for completely new construction. “Since the projects differ greatly in terms of technology, construction and size, a renovation concept was developed that can be flexibly adapted to the different locations,” explains Sven Busch, International Key Account Manager at TRILUX. The renovation concept is based on the moisture-resistant luminaires Aragon Fit and Oleveon Fit and a light management system from our LiveLink family, which was specially selected for these parking garages.

Parking garages: low ceilings, high demands

Parking garages pose a challenge in terms of lighting due to the low ceiling heights and challenging architecture and construction. In order to create perfect visual conditions in this environment, we have developed a particularly wide-beam Aragon Fit optic especially for the Q-Park project. Despite the low mounting height, it ensures very good illumination of the room and has now been included in our standard portfolio due to the high demand for such solutions. Another decisive factor for a friendly and open atmosphere is the lighting of the ceiling. It makes the room appear larger and reduces the typical “cave effect” in parking garages. For this reason, the Aragon Fit is used in many locations with a translucent housing. This allows indirect light to be emitted into the upper half of the room, creating pleasant indirect ceiling lighting.

Intelligence for every project - with the LiveLink family

In order to reduce energy costs in parking garages without compromising the users' sense of security, it was necessary to determine for each parking garage individually whether lighting management makes sense - and if so, which system is most suitable. The entire LiveLink portfolio was available for this purpose: from simple sensor control to the scalable LiveLink Premium solution for large-scale projects. In most cases, the LiveLink SwarmSens system is the ideal choice. Thanks to a simple and wireless network and integrated sensors for presence and daylight detection, it is particularly easy to implement in renovation processes. It also offers smart functions such as light that runs quickly and easily ahead without programming or server connection.

Full service and 70 percent less energy consumption

As a full-service provider, TRILUX has also taken on the maintenance of the 188 parking garages - and has concluded a five-year maintenance contract with Q-Park, which we implement with local partner companies from our international network. Just like Q-Park, we are extremely satisfied with the result. The renovation not only improves the user experience and the feeling of safety in the parking garages. The high light quality also reduces the risk of accidents, burglary and vandalism. But above all, the new smart systems score points with significantly lower energy consumption. The specific level of energy savings depends, among other things, on the individual project and the technological status of the previous version. According to the lighting design calculations and a comparative analysis, the LED retrofit reduces energy consumption by up to 70 percent.
