Uber Expands Mobility Platform With SpotHero Acquisition

Uber acquiring parking app SpotHero

Uber has announced plans to acquire SpotHero, a North American parking reservation platform, in a move that further broadens its mobility ecosystem. The transaction is expected to be completed in the first half of 2026, subject to standard regulatory approvals and closing conditions. Financial details of the deal have not been disclosed.

With this acquisition, Uber intends to integrate parking discovery, booking, and payment directly into its app. Users will be able to reserve parking at thousands of locations, including garages, surface lots, and valet facilities, across hundreds of cities in the United States and Canada. The integration is designed to support a wide range of travel needs, such as daily commuting, airport parking, and attendance at events or venues.

SpotHero operates a large digital marketplace that connects drivers with parking operators, offering advance reservations and transparent pricing. Since its launch, the platform has built an extensive network of parking locations and processed billions of dollars in parking transactions, making it one of the most established players in the digital parking space.

Uber plans to use SpotHero’s technology and partner network to enhance trip planning within its app, allowing users to manage more aspects of their journey in one place. The company has also indicated that parking-related benefits may be added over time for members of its subscription program.

For parking operators, the acquisition is expected to provide increased visibility and demand through Uber’s global user base, while maintaining existing relationships with facilities and owners. SpotHero is expected to continue operating its core services as Uber works toward deeper integration.

The deal reflects Uber’s broader strategy to evolve beyond ride-hailing and delivery into a more comprehensive mobility platform, combining transportation, parking, and related services into a single digital experience.
