VINCI Park Manages Ninewells Hospital Car Park Dundee

In June 2003, VINCI Park Dundee Ltd, a company within the VINCI Park UK Group took over from APCOA the management of the Ninewells Hospital Car Park in Dundee. The car park purchased in 2001 by VINCI Park UK Group was originally developed by Impregilo under PFI arrangement with the Tayside NHS Trust and provides 2362 spaces over a 30-year term.
vinci3.jpgNinewells Hospital is a major acute teaching hospital with a bed compliment of 903 beds and approximately 181,000 outpatient attendances per year. The hospital serves the population of Tayside and North East Fife and has links with the Universities of Dundee and Abertay with a Medical School on site.

VINCI Park places its customers at the heart of its operations and to this end we have initiated a number of customer focused services, which include escorting customers to their vehicles, extensive provision of CCTV security, control conducting vehicle jump starts, administering first aid and lending umbrellas to customers in rainy weather. To mark the commencement of our management of the car parking facilities, VINCI Park has sponsored a courtesy bus for patients, which was presented to the Tayside NHS Trust on the 11th July.

The courtesy bus is fully fitted with access and safety equipment, which includes a chair lift, seat belts and a radio link to base. The service will run from Monday – Friday, 9am to 5pm, at 15-minute intervals along a fixed route with 4 stops, including the Hospital Main Entrance, East Block, TORT Centre and Car Park 9. A high degree of flexibility will be retained to cater for additional stops and alternative routes depending on passenger requirements.

VINCI Park have invested in clear signage to mark the ‘pick-up’ points, which in conjunction with a flyer campaign and local press involvement should insure that patients are fully aware of this new service.

Tim Taylor, Managing Director of VINCI Park Dundee Ltd said that this extended support demonstrates VINCI Park’s commitments to developing its partnership with Tayside NHS Trust, its patients and its visitors. “We see ourselves as very much part of the community and that is exciting, demanding and mutually beneficial. This bus will extend the service we provide to everyone the moment they drive onto this site and clearly projects VINCI Park’s commitment to providing help and support to all visitors.”

Ken Armstrong, Director of Operations, Tayside NHS Trust expressed the trust’s gratitude saying "Tayside University Hospitals would like to take this opportunity to thank VINCI Park for providing this new low level courtesy bus which will ensure that all patients and relatives (including disabled) have the opportunity of being transferred from car park 9, Tort Centre and East Block to the hospital front entrance.

Since recently taking over the ownership and management of car parking services on the Ninewells Hospital Site, VINCI Park have increased disabled parking by 30% addressed a wide range of parking issues and most importantly have proved a true partner in looking after staff, patients and public who use the hospital."

VINCI Park would like to thank Peoples Ford who sponsored upgrades to the original specification at no additional cost. Upgrades included air conditioning, front passenger airbags, heated windscreens and a range of other extras for which we are extremely grateful.
