Recent projects
Car Park Management – Telpark (Spain) – EMEA
Telpark is a provider of mobility solutions and parking needs responses. It is a pioneer in streamlining and optimizing mobility for new urban spaces, as well as in parking management that enhances quality of life.
It manages nearly 430,000 parking spaces in 148 cities in Spain, Portugal, Turkey, and Andorra. The company is the leader in the Spanish and Portuguese sectors and the main global operator.
University Parking LPR System - North America
A US parking integrator manages all campus parking operations on behalf of the University. It is their mission to provide safe and efficient campus parking solutions. They oversee over 20 garages and surface parking lots across the entire campus.
Parking - UK National Parking / Monitoring - EMEA
The Challenge - To provide an accurate ALPR system software embedded inside the cameras to accurately read the vehicle licence plates upon entry and exit to the parking areas, thereby enabling the car parks to be monitored 24/7 to ensure that vehicles adhere to the parking regulations at each location, either by ensuring payment is made or any maximum stay criteria are not exceeded.
Car Park Management – El Corte Ingles (Spain), Multi-Site Project – EMEA
After using other systems for more than 25 years, El Corte Ingles decided to place their trust in Vaxtor’s ALPR system. VaxALPR were installed monitoring multiple lanes in each of the 90+ sites, providing real-time recognition, list matching, barrier control, overview images, ticket integration and meta-data recording at each site by running Helix-6, Vaxtor’s advanced Back Office software.
Car Park Security - Auto Manufacturing Plant - North America
The factory needed to improve the security of their 7 million square foot campus. Its vast size and vehicle traffic levels required time-consuming monitoring by their security team. Also, there was a need to better manage peak traffic at shift changes while preserving the safety of vehicles and pedestrians. High speed License Plate Recognition (LPR) was necessary to record vehicles as employees rushed in for their day and night shifts.
Parking/Security/Access Control - NOC - UK
The NOC’s Southampton facility is a busy site with around a 1000 users competing for spaces. Security staff were finding that the two on site car parks were often full when they shouldn’t have been, which meant authorised visitors were struggling to park their vehicles.

Vaxtor’s ALPR Software at the heart of Parking Payment Systems and Back Offices
Parking
Vaxtor’s range of ALPR software can be used to efficiently manage and control car parks, ranging from a single site to 100s of interconnected sites being centrally managed. These car parks car differ greatly and have their own issues:
- Retail car parks where the focus is to provide car park spaces for customers and prevent long stay or ‘commuter’ parkers.
- Corporate car parks where a company needs to provide spaces for staff but might wish to control access times and prevent entry by ex-employees.
- Larger retail parks may require a tiered ALPR parking system for general and VIP clients and a level of security is required to help protect shoppers and staff from criminals or otherwise unwanted visitors.
Vaxtor’s ALPR software can connect to the Helix Back Office (or 3rd party systems) to monitor and control car parks. Capacities can be set to limit occupancy, alert on overstay, control IP relays to open barriers and update LED displays to generate welcome messages and car park guidance or occupancy levels.
The Vaxtor ALPR software is already integrated into many leading car park management companies along with industry standard VMS systems to record all video from a site. Once connected, plate details (along with optional driver and vehicle images) can be recorded and stored with every ticket issued.
Important demographic retail marketing data can also be provided using additional meta-data including Vaxtor’s accurate Make, Model and Colour recognition software with data visualisation provided using Helix’s Grafana Plugin. Your parking data is key to monitoring and saving essential resources, increasing security and ensuring your marketing strategies are providing value.
Access Control and Security
Positioned at site entrances with barriers, gates, traffic lights or LED signs, VaxALPR software can read all approaching license plates and grant access dependent on instantly matching the incoming plate against databases of authorised users.
Users can be grouped into categories such as Management, cleaning staff, maintenace contractors, known pre-booked visitors etc. and automatically granted access at cetain times to certain parts or “zones” of a large site. Alarms can be triggered if say a delivery van is on site for more than a pre-defined period.
An ALPR system provides much more than standard CCTV, allowing data to be easily searched by license plate, date and time or even the employee or registered visitor’s name. Alternatively, authorised and password protected users can search all stored data to provide reliable, time-stamped indisputable evidence to security, police or insurers.
Vaxtor’s powerful Engine running on board the latest Axis and Mobotix cameras has been measured to achieve the same or better levels of recognition normally found in dedicated highly expensive LPR cameras. This coupled with next day availability, multi-year extended warranties, enterprise setup, maintenance and global support make a VaxALPR On Camera option a very cost effective solution whilst increasing system reliability and performance.
Smart City ALPR
A Smart City is a relatively new term used to describe an urban area that uses technology, such as Smart City ALPR to collect data on residents and their associated traffic. The data is used to plan the upgrade of the infrastructure and attempt to make cities more sustainable and smarter for the people who live or work there.
Covering large areas, towns and cities can be a costly but advances in CCTV camera offerings from Axis or Mobotix can be mass produced, have multi-year warranties and when paired with Vaxtor’s optimised software can outperform dedicated cameras. Decreasing all costs while improving reliability and availability enables the scalability of hundreds of cameras around a city.
A single camera able to record all movements into a zone, day or night providing ALPR, Make, Model & Colour (MMC), ADR (hazardous material detection) and vehicle direction – all at the edge paired with Helix or a similar back office storing data, calculating average speeds, journey times and meta data visualisations creates a powerful cost-effective solution.
Vaxtor’s VClass (Vehicle Classification) AI-based analytics software collects data on the type of vehicle passing each camera be it a car, van, truck, bus or motorcycle to name but some. Such data on road usage is vital to urban planning and transport development.
Supporting congestion and clean-air zones, Vaxtor technologies provide the vehicle data to be cross referenced with instantaneous CO2 emissions. This combined data can graphically show dynamic traffic patterns even timelines of polluting vehicles which can affect the health of city residents.
Security – ALPR Cameras
Real-time Security monitoring of criminals and unwanted or unexpected vehicles arriving on site is almost impossible without an ALPR system. Standard CCTV configurations are not suited to capturing license plates of moving vehicles in variable lighting conditions and there is no way of uniquely identifying vehicles of interest using video only. Humans cannot remember and check lists of license plates as they arrive at a checkpoint, – but computers can.
Vaxtor’s ALPR Systems capture number plates of all vehicles, day or night and check them in real time against databases of persons of interest or known suspicious vehicles. If a match is found, then an visual or audible alert can be triggered locally or remotely on a PC or mobile device to security staff who can intervene.
For every license plate read, a record is created detailing the plate number, an image of the vehicle and driver as well as the exact time and date stamp. Associated synchronised video of the driver or vehicle can be stored and linked-to using an appropriate VMS system allowing guards to perform searches based on plates, partial plates or date and time ranges.
In addition to normal site entrance monitoring, additional low-power early warning ALPR cameras can be used to detect troublemakers or protestors as they approach well before they arrive at the normal site checkpoints.
Vaxtor’s accurate On Mobile Android software runs on standard smart phones and can be used by security staff to spot check vehicles against synchronised databases ensuring a completely layered approach to site security.
