Smart Parking Next Level: Parquery Excels in Ice and Snow

Alpine Slovenian Town Kranjska Gora Counts on Parquery to Resolve its Parking Issues During the FIS Ski World Cup 2022 and Beyond

Parquery: the smart parking solution in ice and snow

Freezing temperatures, thick snow covering the ground and vehicles, snowfall, and snowdrift: harsh winter conditions in mountain resorts and high-latitude cities challenge any smart parking solution.

Parquery’s leading camera-based smart parking excels in ice and snow when other sensors have long since ceased to function. It works for parking surfaces and vehicles under snow blankets, despite inaccurate parking due to invisible markings and heaped-up snow piles. Unlike other sensors, it does not interfere with and cannot be damaged by snowplows or heavy machinery clearing the road.

Thus, it is ideal for regions with harsh winters, such as high-latitude cities, mountain towns, and ski resorts. Following a successful joint project in Tržič, another Alpine municipality in Slovenia, Parquery and leading Smart City provider Telekom Slovenije partnered once more to introduce smart parking to the center of Kranjska Gora.

Parquery distinguishes itself in ski resorts and mountain towns. It performs when other sensors have long since ceased to function: for vehicles under blankets of snow, heaped up snow piles, inaccurate parking due to invisible markings, or snow clearing with plows and heavy machinery.

Kranjska Gora, an Alpine resort in the northwestern corner of Slovenia, annually hosts the Ski World Championships - with the next FIS Ski World Cup 2022 on 12-13th March. Parking is in short supply at those events and during peak tourist seasons when visitors leave their cars just about anywhere in the municipality.

From this winter onwards, the town relies on Parquery to solve its parking issues.
