Astron Buildings: New Mobility Hub in Herne
The first city center car park in in Herne, Germany has officially opened! A milestone moment for the local community and the wewole foundation. The opening recently took place in the presence of Mayor Dr. Frank Dudda and Sodingen's District Mayor Mathias Grunert.
Located in the heart of the district of Elpeshof , the new 4-storey car park offers 160 parking spaces for wewole employees (a non-profit organization that provides support, employment, and educational opportunities for people with disabilities), residents and visitors of local Circus Schnick-Schnack.
“We used around 230 tons of steel to build this structure on a 5,000m2 site,” said Thorsten Gauer, Sales Engineer at Bernhard Heckmann GmbH & Co. KG, a leading construction company and Astron Builder.
Sustainable mobility is one of the challenges of tomorrow’s cities. Building accessible and efficient mobility hubs plays a role in creating greener, more inclusive urban spaces. By encouraging intermodal travel and reducing congestion in city centers, city center car parks like this one support a smarter, more sustainable urban future.
This is more than just a parking solution, it’s a key step in shaping the future of mobility in the city center.
