AVUTEC: German System Integrator Turns Its Own Warehouse Into an ANPR Reference Installation

From Test Installation to Customer Showcase

Before recommending a new solution to customers, ModiTech, a system integrator specialising in security systems, wanted to test it in its own daily operations.

The company installed an AVUTEC Gatekeeper 410X ANPR camera at its warehouse in Chemnitz, Germany. The installation started as an internal pilot and is now part of ModiTech’s daily operations, while also serving as a live demonstration for prospective users.

The Daily Workflow

Every day, staff vehicles use the garage door to access the warehouse, load and unload equipment.

Previously, drivers had to stop in front of the garage, often blocking a route used by other vehicles around the site, before getting out, entering the building through a side entrance, and manually opening the garage door from the inside.

This was time-consuming and disrupted traffic flow around the site.

ModiTech wanted a solution that was both convenient and secure. Only authorised vehicles should have access to the garage, while keeping access rights easy to manage.

Automatic Vehicle Access and Simplified Plate Management

ModiTech was already using Salto Space for access control.

Rather than introducing another platform, the company integrated AVUTEC’s ANPR technology into its existing system.

The AVUTEC Gatekeeper 410X ANPR camera automatically recognises an approaching license plate and sends the information to the Salto controller.

Access rights are verified within the Salto Space system, and the garage door opens automatically for authorised vehicles.

License plate management is equally straightforward: license plates are registered and managed through ModiTech’s own software (Kennzeichen-Haase), which automatically converts them into the Salto-compatible card format and synchronises them with Salto Space.

The improvements were immediately noticeable for the team:

• vehicles enter without delays, making loading and unloading faster
• the garage entrance remains clear for passing vehicles
• only authorised vehicles can access the garage
• access permissions remain fully under control for all operational staff, management, and visitors
