Ballast Nedam Begins Extension of P3 in Schiphol

Ballast Nedam began construction work for the extension of P3 at Amsterdam Schiphol Airport. This airport is one of the busiest in Europe with about 70 million passengers per year. The need for more parking options is essential to ensure Schiphol Airport offers passengers the best service.

Construction of the P3 extension will bring several changes to the car park. First, the number of parking spaces will increase from 2,645 to 5,200. There will also be a bridge to connect both garages to ensure easy access and traffic flow. Ballast Nedam will also work on a roof construction to cover P3 and the extension ensuring the building is unified aesthetically and structurally.

P3 will also have about 20,000 m2 of solar panels that will generate 1,760,00 kWh, the equivalent annual energy use of 488 homes. This last feature will reduce the CO2 emissions of Schiphol by 626,560 kg annually, and ensure the car park is in line with the airport’s green energy projects.

After two successful projects together, Schiphol chose once again to team up with Ballast Nedam Parking for the extension of P3. We look forward to the work ahead,” said Frenk Prins, Commercial Manager for Ballast Nedam.

Construction of the P3 extension is set to conclude in February 2019
