Hectronic Integrates Wero as a New Payment Option
Start with live operation for parking and charging – roll-out to filling stations to follow
Hectronic, a leading provider of payment solutions for charging, parking and refuelling, is integrating Wero into its product portfolio as a new payment option. Wero is the payment solution from the European Payments Initiative (EPI) and enables fast, secure real-time payments based on SEPA – without the need for third-party providers such as PayPal or credit card companies. Hectronic is one of the first providers to integrate the European payment method into the mobility infrastructure.
Live operations at charging stations and parking machines are set to launch shortly, with Wero integration for filling stations planned as the next step. The payment process is incredibly simple: the Hectronic hardware generates a dynamic QR code on the display, which users scan with their banking or Wero app and confirm the payment directly within the app. Directly from their own bank account, in real time. As the QR code appears on a display and is generated individually for each payment transaction, ‘quishing’ – fraud involving overlaid or manipulated QR codes – is virtually impossible, unlike with static versions.
“The integration by Hectronic of Wero as a payment method demonstrates that our solution has reached another level, after the initial P2P and ecommerce launches: real-time payments within the mobility infrastructure show that Wero is an omnichannel solution that can be used both online and now also at the point of sale. This is precisely the kind of innovation we want to drive forward together with our partners. We are delighted to have Hectronic as a strong technology partner that is embedding European payments into everyday life,” said Fabian Mansfeld, Chief Acceptance Strategy Officer, European Payments Initiative (EPI) / Wero.
“The integration of Wero is a logical step for us to offer our customers state-of-the-art and, above all, independent European payment methods. As one of the pioneers in the mobility industry, we are setting a clear signal for digital sovereignty. While users benefit from seamless processing directly via their bank accounts, the solution is also highly attractive for operators thanks to its attractive cost structure. Real-time payments make transactions more efficient, while dynamic QR codes ensure maximum security – whether for parking, charging, or refuelling”, added Sven Stottmeier, Director E-Mobility at Hectronic.

For retail payments, Wero is live in Germany since the end of 2025 with progressive roll-out in France and Belgium throughout 2026.
