OPTEX Announces the EMEA Launch of Its New Safety Sensor for Vehicle Detection with EN-12453 (Level D Safeguarding) Compliance

The New OVS-02GT EN Sensors Responds to a High Customer Demand for an Easy Above-Ground Sensing Solution for Safety at Automated Vehicle Access Points.

OPTEX, the leading global sensor manufacturer, has launched the newest addition to its OVS-02 series. The new OVS-02GT EN is EN-12453 (Level D Safeguarding) compliant. This new sensor is applicable to automated gates and barriers. The benefit of this new sensor is that it expands its trusted vehicle activation and protection capabilities for automated barriers with enhanced safety through a dedicated Test input and Form A solid-state relay safety output. By reliably detecting vehicles in the barrier area, the sensor helps prevent collisions, reducing the risk of damage to vehicles and automated access systems. The new sensor for automated barriers, sliding gates and swing gates is now available for customers in Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA) and can be applied at a wide range of commercial, residential and industrial sites.

OVS-02GT ENThe above-ground sensors provide the ideal solution for any site or environment where a ground loop cannot be installed, such as locations where digging is prohibited or not possible, the road surface is damaged or unsealed, or prone to flooding. They also remove the need for any disruptive and hugely costly civil or ground engineering works and can be simply installed on a pole or wall with a wide-angle adjustment up to 95-degrees and easy settings adjustments with a mobile App.

The OVS-02GT EN sensors can detect all types of vehicles, both moving and stationary, within an adjustable detection range of up to 8 meters, while also ignoring pedestrian traffic. They can detect vehicles moving with speed up to 35km/h, and are not affected by changing weather conditions, providing consistent indoor or outdoor performance all year round.

Toshiyasu Matsuyama, Divisional Manager Smart Mobility Solutions at OPTEX Japan, says the new OVS-02GT EN sensors responds to a high customer demand for an easy above-ground sensing solution for safety at automated vehicle access points. “We listened closely to our customers and developed this new EN 12453 (Level D safeguaring) compliant version to provide a reliable vehicle detection solution that delivers enhanced safety for automated barriers.”

This latest addition to the OPTEX vehicle detection portfolio provides customers with a reliable and accurate solution that is simple to install and easy to integrate. It combines the proven performance of OPTEX detection technology with more than 40 years of expertise and innovation in sensing solutions, delivering a trusted choice for modern automated access applications.
