PanStreet International: Innovations in Enforcement - New Drone Technology for Urban Parking Management

This Aerial Approach Offers a Compelling Glimpse Into the Future of Automated Urban Traffic Management.

As cities continue to grapple with the complexities of urban mobility, a new solution named Politess® Fly is emerging from Germany to streamline parking enforcement. Meerbusch-based company Schweers/PanStreet has unveiled an AI-powered drone system designed to assist local authorities in monitoring parking violations with unprecedented speed and efficiency.

Streamlining Compliance

The system leverages drone technology to conduct aerial monitoring of high-traffic areas, including bike lanes, no-parking zones, and restricted spaces. By automating the detection of common infractions, the technology aims to:

  • Increase Efficiency: Reduce the time officers spend on manual, repetitive patrols.
  • Enhance Safety: Improve the monitoring of critical areas like intersections and cycle paths.
  • Optimize Workflow: Allow enforcement teams to prioritize human intervention only where it is strictly necessary, based on verified data.

Privacy-First Design

A key feature of the Schweers system is its privacy-by-design approach. By filming vertically from an altitude of roughly 80 meters, the drones identify vehicle placement while intentionally avoiding the capture of license plates or identifiable human faces. The technology functions as a detection tool, flagging potential violations for human review rather than issuing automated fines, ensuring it aligns with strict data protection standards.

The Path Ahead

While still in the development and pilot-phase stage, the system has already garnered interest from municipalities in Germany and abroad, including Düsseldorf and Perth. As cities look for smarter, more agile tools to manage curb space, this aerial approach offers a compelling glimpse into the future of automated urban traffic management.

About PanStreet International PanStreet International

In 1988, Schweers developed and manufactured the very first handheld mobile computer with an integrated printer designed for parking enforcement. Now, 30 years and 1,200 municipal customers later, our success is still based on the same fundamental principles. Innovation, ingenuity, quality, and long term goals are the foundation of Schweers' success. By working hand in hand with our customers and partners, we are able to empower each other and find mutually beneficial solutions. From working together, customers in the USA benefit from the lessons learned in Australia, and those in Australia learn from solutions developed in the United Arab Emirates, and thus the circle continues. At Schweers we believe that common goals can only be reached through extensive collaboration.
