PanStreet International: Simplifying Parking Payments Before It Was Cool
Back in 2012, Abu Dhabi faced a fragmented parking payment system—multiple vendors, varied methods, and a lack of integration.
Recognizing the need for a cohesive solution, I spearheaded the development of the Unified Smart Payment Wallet.
Key Highlights:
- Multi-Platform Accessibility: Developed a digital wallet accessible via smartphones and physical cards, ensuring inclusivity for all users.
- Innovative Top-Up Solutions: Enabled wallet recharges through ATM machines across the UAE and online via credit card payments, a forward-thinking approach at a time when tap-to-pay was not yet prevalent.
- Vendor Integration: Coordinated with a mobile parking payment vendor , two parking meter vendors Flowbird automated technik baumann, and one multistory parking operator Designa, unifying them under a single, streamlined payment ecosystem.
- Cost-Efficient Transactions: Designed the system to minimise transaction costs, allowing for charge-free small transactions, thereby enhancing user satisfaction and reducing financial barriers.
This project not only simplified parking payments but also laid the foundation for future smart city initiatives in Abu Dhabi. It stands as a testament to the power of collaborative innovation in urban infrastructure.
Reflecting on this experience, I'm curious:
What innovative solutions have you implemented to streamline urban services in your city?

About PanStreet International
In 1988, Schweers developed and manufactured the very first handheld mobile computer with an integrated printer designed for parking enforcement. Now, 30 years and 1,200 municipal customers later, our success is still based on the same fundamental principles. Innovation, ingenuity, quality, and long term goals are the foundation of Schweers' success. By working hand in hand with our customers and partners, we are able to empower each other and find mutually beneficial solutions. From working together, customers in the USA benefit from the lessons learned in Australia, and those in Australia learn from solutions developed in the United Arab Emirates, and thus the circle continues. At Schweers we believe that common goals can only be reached through extensive collaboration.
