Park Your Truck and Roxpay Launch the First Expansion Phase of the Charging Hub in Eching Near Munich
More charging capacity for the transport sector: Phase 1 of the joint expansion project goes into operation in August.
Electrification in heavy goods transport continues to gain momentum. At Dieselstraße 29 in Eching near Munich, the first expansion phase of a comprehensive charging infrastructure project by Park Your Truck and charge point operator Roxpay is now getting under way. Two new ABB A400 rapid chargers with a charging capacity of 400 kW will be commissioned as early as August.
These will be complemented by two charging points designed specifically for the overnight charging of electric HGVs. The site will therefore offer a range of charging solutions, covering both short top-up sessions and longer dwell times overnight. The expansion is deliberately being carried out in stages and follows the practical requirements of the transport and logistics sector. Close collaboration with the haulage company Elflein plays a central role here, as the operator is actively using the site to electrify its fleet. The expansion will benefit not only Elflein, but also all other customers who already use the site for charging and for the secure parking of their vehicles.
Phase 2: a further 13 rapid charging points by the end of the year
The current expansion is only the first step in a considerably larger project.
Under the planned network expansion, Roxpay will deliver a further 13 rapid charging points in the front section of the site on Dieselstraße by the end of the year. This will establish the location as one of the highest-performing charging and service hubs for electric heavy goods transport in the greater Munich area.
The combination of secure parking, flexible charging options and a strategically favourable position in the immediate vicinity of major traffic arteries makes the site an important building block for the decarbonisation of road freight transport in southern Germany.
A strong partnership for building a European charging network
The Eching project is also an example of the successful collaboration between Park Your Truck as site provider and infrastructure developer and Roxpay as operator and provider of modern charging infrastructure.
While Park Your Truck identifies and develops suitable logistics sites and prepares them for use by transport companies, Roxpay is responsible for the technical delivery and the operation of the charging infrastructure.
The cooperation is not limited to the Eching site. Further joint projects are already in progress:
- Port of Trier
- Bitterfeld on the A9 motorway
- Further strategic sites along key European logistics corridors
The aim of the partnership is to build a comprehensive network of charging and parking sites for heavy goods transport in Germany and across Europe.
Roxpay relies on state-of-the-art ABB charging technology
For the new rapid charging points, Roxpay is relying on the proven high-power technology of ABB E-mobility, one of the world's leading suppliers of DC rapid charging systems. The ABB A400 systems enable particularly high charging capacities and create the conditions for short dwell times as well as the economical operation of electric commercial vehicles in day-to-day long-haul transport.
By combining high-performance hardware, intelligent load management and site-specific energy concepts, Roxpay is putting in place the technical foundations for the transition to fully electric transport fleets.
An invitation to haulage companies and fleet operators
With the step-by-step expansion of the charging infrastructure, Park Your Truck and Roxpay are seeking early dialogue with haulage companies, fleet operators and transport service providers.
Companies that operate electric HGV fleets along key logistics routes, or that are planning such projects, are invited to talk to the project partners now. Alongside securing charging availability, individual usage and pricing models can be agreed that are tailored to the respective fleet size and operating profile.
The early expansion phase in particular gives fleet operators the opportunity to feed their requirements directly into the further development of the sites and to secure long-term capacity at attractive transport hubs.
Statement by Denise Schuster, CEO of Park Your Truck
"Electrifying heavy goods transport requires more than individual charging points. It requires strategically placed sites where charging, parking and digital services are intelligently connected. In Roxpay we have a strong partner at our side who ensures technical delivery of the highest standard. Eching is the first visible step in a considerably larger joint expansion, which we will continue at further sites in Germany and Europe."
