The City of Grand Forks is overhauling its parking operations with Passport, a leading transportation software and payments company that is trusted by cities to manage their parking and mobility infrastructure. By leveraging Passport’s digital platform, the City is now offering Passport’s mobile pay parking, parking enforcement and digital permitting solutions.

This is the first time the City of Grand Forks is offering digital payment options for parking. Passport’s mobile payment application, Passport Parking, is free to download and enables drivers to pay for parking sessions without the need to use coins or interact with public surfaces. The City is also launching Passport’s digital permitting solution, allowing long-term parkers to manage their parking sessions from a convenient online portal. With both solutions in place, parkers can enjoy easier and more flexible parking experiences and the City itself can simplify and automate manual processes, allowing them to more effectively manage their streets and sidewalks.

“With Passport’s digital platform under our belt, we no longer need to rely on outdated tools and processes and instead can more efficiently manage multiple aspects of our parking operations under a single, centralized system,” said Lt. Dwight Love, Facilities & Equipment Bureau. “This is a great advancement for the City and we are excited to finally offer our community easier and safer methods of payment for parking.”

Grand Forks joins over 1,000 cities that partner with Passport to manage and simplify their parking and mobility needs. Passport’s flexible and scalable platform enables the City of Grand Forks to house rules, rates and restrictions for the curb in a central system which can be communicated to enforcement officers on the streets. Data for all payment methods flows through that same system, providing a complete look at the parking ecosystem.

“Upgrading to Passport’s digital platform not only drives more efficiencies for the City, it also allows them to future proof their operations and help create a more livable and equitable community,” says Passport sales executive, Sam Warnecke. “We are proud to partner with Grand Forks and equip them with the technology to achieve their parking management goals.”

The Passport Parking app is free to download from the App Store and Google Play. Users can also manage their parking online at passportparking.com.
