AINOA Shopping Centre Upgrades Parking Guidance with Portier in Espoo, Finland

The Ainoa Installation Demonstrates How an Existing Portier System Can Be Expanded and Modernised over Time.

AINOA forms a commercial centre for the Tapiola area, in Espoo. AINOA has grown into a unique combination of over 100 speciality shops, restaurants and cafés. In 2025, there were 10.4 million visitors with sales reaching €236 million. The Shopping Centre is easy to reach by metro or bus, or alternatively by bike or by car.

AINOA has been using the Portier parking guidance solution as part of its street network guidance system since 2016. In 2026, the parking guidance system was further upgraded to provide comprehensive and flexible guidance throughout the centre’s parking facilities.

As part of the upgrade, Portier Vision camera units were installed on the parking levels P1 and P2, covering 1,271 parking spaces. Vehicle counting on levels P0, P3 and P4, covering approximately 700 spaces, is handled by the new Portier Microwave counters.

The project also included the installation of 46 Portier 888-XXX Park Displays, integrated into the shopping centre’s existing signage using custom adapter collars. Of these, 21 displays were originally supplied by Portier in 2016. In addition, three Portier Wayfinding kiosks were installed to provide visitors with clear and convenient navigation within the facilities.

At the same time, the previous space-specific, another supplier’s camera-based parking guidance system was dismantled and replaced with Portier. The new solution brings significant improvements in system quality, functionality and overall parking guidance performance, while providing a consistent platform for the entire parking facility.

The Ainoa installation demonstrates how an existing Portier system can be expanded and modernised over time, while making use of existing infrastructure wherever practical.

The upgraded solution provides Ainoa with a modern, scalable parking guidance platform that combines camera-based vehicle detection, microwave counting and dynamic guidance displays across the facility. It also demonstrates the long-term flexibility of the Portier HOST platform, with the original 2016 installation now seamlessly expanded and modernised to meet today’s requirements.
