Start Recovery of 112 Cars From Q-Park Parking Garage Next to St. Antonius Hospital

Today the recovery operation of the next 112 cars starts in the Q-Park parking garage next to the St. Antonius Hospital in Nieuwegein. This concerns cars on the various floors of the parking garage in an area that has been designated as safe by the municipality of Nieuwegein.

Safety has been determined by experts, after which the disposal plan has been approved by the municipality of Nieuwegein. A lifting arrangement is placed to remove the cars from the parking garage. This consists of stacking pontoons to bridge the height, in combination with a bridge from the floors of the parking garage. The cars are driven onto the fenced stacking pontoons by a specialized recovery company. A crane then places the cars on the ground floor. Here the cars are checked by an independent damage expert.

Q-Park General Manager Michiel Tenge: “Fortunately, we can now also give these 112 car owners their cars back. The lifting plan required careful coordination with various parties, because safety and protection of the research area of the Dutch Safety Board (OVV) had to be guaranteed. We look forward to delivering the cars clean to the car owners in the short term. Naturally, we hope that the remaining cars in the research area can also be recovered quickly.

The parties involved Q-Park, St. Antonius and Primevest recently announced that they are extending the term for the loan cars already provided to victims until September this year. All car owners have been informed by email. The parking garage will remain closed for the time being.
