Urbiotica Keeps Growing In The Netherlands With A New Smart Parking Project In Wijchen

With the new project in Wijchen underway and six cities already benefiting from these technologies.

The Netherlands continues to embrace the digitalisation of urban parking. The city of Wijchen has joined this transformation with the implementation of a smart parking system by Urbiotica, in collaboration with Spotten. Although the project is not yet operational, it represents an important step towards improving urban mobility.

With the installation of 670 new U-Spot IoT sensors to optimise parking guidance and control, the total number of sensors managed by Urbiotica in the Netherlands now amounts to 1,626.

This figure reflects the Dutch market’s commitment to parking digitalisation through IoT technology, thereby enhancing the management and sustainability of urban spaces. Urbiotica has already deployed its solutions in several cities across the country, responding to the growing need for more efficient and intelligent parking management.

Below are some of the most notable cases:

  • Leidschendam: A key project launched in 2022 with 476 U-Spot 2.0 sensors, enabling more efficient management of urban parking.
  • In Den Bosch, Enschede, Hazeldonk and Utrecht, work has focused on integrating previously installed sensors into our smart parking platform via Urbiotica’s API, allowing for the monitoring of these spaces and the intelligent management of parking in these cities.

Urbiotica’s expansion in the country responds to the increasing demand for smart tools to manage parking more efficiently. The combination of sensors, guidance systems and control platforms not only improves the user experience, but also helps reduce congestion and polluting emissions.

With the new project in Wijchen underway and six cities already benefiting from these technologies, Urbiotica is strengthening its role in the modernisation of urban parking in the Netherlands
