Urbiotica: Valencia Expands Its Smart Parking Control System With Over 2,700 Sensors

Valencia hasn’t just expanded its smart parking system — it has taken it to the next level. With the installation of 2,750 new M2M sensors, the city has strengthened monitoring in its most sensitive areas, consolidating one of the most extensive detection networks in the country.
This new deployment focuses on loading and unloading bays (L&D) and spaces reserved for people with reduced mobility (PRM), both key to ensuring smooth urban flow and daily accessibility.
This expansion builds on a long-term urban transformation strategy that Valencia has been developing over the years. With more than 4,000 monitored spaces, the city now takes a qualitative leap in managing regulated parking. L&D and PRM zones are now monitored year-round, and taxi zones, while not generating alerts, also contribute to a fuller picture of urban space usage.
The goal is clear: to ensure compliance, increase vehicle turnover where it's most needed, and provide citizens with an efficient, reliable infrastructure. All of this is managed through the smart parking platform, enabling real-time supervision, alert activation, and turning each parking space into a valuable data source for better urban planning.
Collaboration with PavaPark has been essential in this phase. Together, they have deployed a robust, connected, and scalable system — ready to grow with the city. Because in places like Valencia, every square metre matters, and every data point counts.
This expansion is not just about improving efficiency — it’s about redefining the way we understand public space. More order, better accessibility, and fairer mobility in a city committed to innovation and sustainability.
